Also check out 'Long as you know, you're living yours' by Keith Jarrett - it inspired Gaucho. You might need to buy it as there are no recordings on the web - worth doing so.

There's a version here:

But it's not as good as the studio version which sounds almost identical to Gaucho - so much so that Jarrett sued Steely Dan, won and is given a co-writing credit.

Thanks I'll follow that up and give him some ear time.

That Keith Jarrett track is wonderful - thanks.

With the very young Danish sax player Jan garbarek...A masterful player.

I was lucky to have played a couple of tunes with him in my guitar toting youth in Holland !!!
Alas at 66 my carpultunnel hand issues forbid any playing now.

I'm a big fan of Garbarek - Tore Brunborg too. I went to see Manu Katché recently at Ronnie Scotts with Brunborg, check out the album 'Third Round' by Katché, very good.

How amazing to have played with Garbarek - he's a magical, almost other worldly, player.

At this time I'm able to play the guitar, mostly jazz and blues/rock, happily in a quite good band. But the future looks not rose tinted. It's not the carpulrunnel as in your case but dupuytren, first surgery 7 years ago, but becoming serious again. The positive thing is that when loosing abilities gets compensated by playing less but more musical/ expressive.
