Or maybe it was another where he mentioned his initial reluctance to going back to 3 wheeler production. As I remember in his view Morgan should aim for modernity with new models (does anyone remember the EvaGT ?), not nostalgia. Whatever made him change his mind I don't know. In any case, he didn't survive the M3W. Funnily enough, in folk culture he is the only person blamed for its rushed start of production. Considering the never before seen amount and frequency of engineering blunders by MMC after his departure, one has to suspect "Sir Charles Morgan" was a very convenient scapegoat, fantastically achieving this: no recognition from putting the M3W into production; blame for putting it too early. Hello Mario, All available evidence suggests that the M3W was put into production far too rapidly with insufficient engineering development and testing. The problem was that at the time he was seen as the boss and as such which ever way the M3W went he would be the can lad.
For that I felt sorry for him.

Well at least that proves they suffer some depreciation - but not much! Yes indeed. Most cars lose value against price paid and also against new value. But Morgans are very resilient against price paid, due to new price inflation, and most second hand buys will hold steady against price paid. In fact the current trend seems to be a gentle increase over price paid.

Hi Peter, I fully understand that the person at the top is the ultimate responsible, and I do know from your own account (bought and read your excellent book, with great interest) that CM wasn't the biggest enthusiast about MMC resuming the production of 3 wheelers. In any case, I always think (and we already discussed this privately a long time ago) that he was treated by many as if he was the sole responsible for Morgan's problems, while at the same time no credit was given to him for whatever good was made during his time, as you say, "at the top". Now that's even more apparent. Years after he's gone, you only need to speak to people that has dealings with Morgan (namely, people that recently bought new cars, or has needed new parts for their old cars) to understand that something is very wrong up there. I don't mean Steve Morris, in fact I never met or spoke to him, all I hear is that he is a nice guy, not as flamboyant and notorious - in a good way - as CM was, but more a down to earth Morgan man through and through, and that can only be good. Then again, as with CM, he's the person at the top. And he was the person at the top when the Brooklands M3W was launched, he was the person at the top when the ARP4 was launched, he was the person at the top when the new Aero was launched ... see my point? PS - totally un-related. Under totally fortuitous circumstances I came to acquire a beautiful, 70's vintage design, Bussaco Palace Hotel ashtray. I checked ... it's exactly like yours. Funny, uh?
