Thank you everyone for the words of advice and help. I'm glad it isn't just me having a silly moment. Slightly annoying perhaps, but certainly something I can live with. I collected the car on Sunday and have already covered over 500 miles going to work and taking the children to school (a lot of that with the top down despite the weather!) I'm over the moon with her - what a great car, I feel very privileged sat behind the wheel! Thanks again for all the advice!

Although I cannot locate the photo right now , one the dealers I frequent suggested moving the filler totally from the car , and drilling a couple of addition holes in the body of it.
I did this and my fuelling is much easier now, and the only issue I have is remembering to ease up over the final litre or it all goes over the bodywork and my trousers!
I may be wrong but I think the standard is one small hole, which can easily be overcome, the additional orifi allow the pressure inside the tank to vent and the filling is much quicker as a result.

Hi Andy, thank you, that is very helpful and I'd be keen to see the photos if you can find them. I plan on using the car most days so petrol pump visits will be fairly frequent - at present a quick splash and dash on the way to work isn't possible unless I set off much earlier!

Depends on the year Andy, later types with advanced EVAP systems run at positive pressure in the tank and if you vent in addition to the ROPS (Roll Over Protection System)valve you will trigger an emissions system failure and warning light.... not to mention MOT fail. Not smart to start drilling holes on later cars without knowing what your doing!

If it's a 21st century car there's an adjustment than can often cure this. Open the cap.inside is a moveable alluminium ring with a spring loaded flap. The rotated position ofnthis is critical.
It moves easily with finger pressure. Try positioning the hinge of the flap at 6 o'clock position. You may find this an instant fix.if not, try it at 12. Sounds daft but has worked for many of us.

Hi All, just purchased my first Morgan which is a real joy but putting fuel in is a headache! The filler neck / pump constantly air locks and it can take 10 minutes to fill the tank?! Anyone else have this problem and if so, do any of you know of a sensible fix. Many thanks for your help, Warren As above - it's a problem for many. It's the only ripple on an otherwise calm pond of my +8 ownership. Shifts change at the garage whilst I fill up. Range Rovers and school busses come and go... seasons change. It's a real pain. The patented hinge manoeuvre offers some relief. But not much.
