Thanks for this thread. I learned I was not the only one with this problem. I have never been able to use the catch/release. It is a Pain In The Back to hold the nozzle at half speed. Many times the pump just pumped too much fuel and I would go to another Gas Station. Not sure this adds to My enjoyment of a Morgan.

yes we had same problem on our plus 4 year 2000 car turned out the rubber filler hose was beginning to fail put in a new one and it fixed the problem see this link for my photos https://flic.kr/s/aHskkTxRYp

yes we had same problem on our plus 4 year 2000 car turned out the rubber filler hose was beginning to fail put in a new one and it fixed the problem see this link for my photos https://flic.kr/s/aHskkTxRYp Filler hoses from around 2000 time were an issue I believe - deteriated quickly I'm guessing it was the quality Most Zetec engined Morgan owners I know, including mine have had to have replacements Someone told me at Gaydon that the factory don't get the replacements anymore but it looks like Librands still carry the replacement for Zetec engines cars which have the problem

The one piece rubber filler hose was still fitted in 2005. I've made a drawing and am working on a multi piece replacement, but the problem is the massive reduction in diameter from about 52mm to 32mm in a very short length. At some stage I might see if Simon can produce a bespoke short aluminium reducer. The current cars have an aluminium reducer with integral T piece for the breather, and two simple straight flexible hoses. Much improved. This is my original kinked hose. Note the aluminium reducer at the top.  This is after I loosened the bottom hose clip and just eased the pipe further down onto the tank pipe. Very subtle straightening but this made a big difference to fill speed.

Do we know why the tank has such a small opening necessitating the use of a reducer in the first place? Obviously something which has to be done at the manufacturing stage, but I wonder why it isn't?

I would certainly be interested if a kit was produced to replace the one piece pipe.
Not only is the one piece pipe prone to the issues already discussed; it is also an absolute B******* to remove for replacement.

Ah! Thanks for the warning. The first job to go on the winter list... ...with all the ones from the previous winter I never got round to doing..
