Test Results from Emil on the bevel box oil cooler...
I have tested the bevel box oil cooler system for about two weeks, about 500 miles each time I went out.
The test was twofold, the first part was not to turn the pump on until I acquired some miles.
Each time I went out, I extended the first part of the run. Here is what I found:
You can probably go 25 to 40 miles and not need to cool the oil, last test I went 35 miles before I turned on the pump.
Temperatures were 125/130 degrees. At that point, I left the pump running, temperatures stayed at about 130 degrees on a 75 degree day. Did not exceed 140 degrees, even in traffic.
On one of the days I did a lot of hill climbing on back roads, 50 to 75 miles an hour, and about 80 miles up the New York Thruway. The faster you go, the cooler the oil, forced air does it every time.
Back in traffic, temperatures went up about ten degrees, that was an 85 degree day.
Highway temperatures never exceeded 140, and in traffic, at 30/35 mph, temperatures never exceeded 145.
I am sure that as the ambient temperature goes up, so will the oil temps. I would think that on a 95 degree day, your oil temp would be around 150/155 degrees.
This system has exceeded my expectations!
