Indeed...

Do we really want more instability in the Middle East, Russia and the Gulf of Mexico?

Thought not.

Though they are largely odious quasi dictatorships surely there is nothing to be gained from fermenting a repeat of the Libya or Iraq mess.

So, I shall continue to support the status quo by keeping to petrol power.

I don't know why we on here are that concerned.

In 2040 assuming I haven't croaked I will be 87.

I've lived through the golden age of steam locomotion, and the golden age of motoring with the internal combustion engine.

Who could ask for anything more?

The era of personal transport is at the beginning of the end.

Have to admit that I'm finding the move to alternative power quite exciting.

I guess that unlike most on here I'm not really a petrolhead.

I'm kind of the same, Jay. I love driving and I love getting the best I can out of whatever it is I'm doing it in. The engine it's propelled with is incidental rather than core to the experience for me.

I'm not entirely sure I'll ever actually switch to an electric or hybrid car, though. Our tintops are good for at least another 10 or 15 years, probably longer.

Same here. Look away for a few days and there's another leap forward. The move to hybrids is almost being market driven now (on the back of large advertising budgets and government intervention granted).

Maybe, when they build affordable cars that are interesting to drive, I might take notice...

It's worth buying this weeks Autocar. It comes with an Inovation Industry supplement which is rather fascinating. I'd love to be working in that side of the industry....fascinating times!
