Steve....yes, last years trip is something that will always stick in my mind. Great journey, huge enjoyment at the event with Mario and family but more than anything else.....huge laughs with three great mates on the trip there and back.
Calum.....some great photos....keep them coming and have a great trip back home. You might need a brolly eventually....and something to bail the car out with 😉
As I didn't take part in the trip my best memories of you guys last year are all from that one day (saturday) spent up in the mountain. I'll pick three moments, in no particular order:
1 - Ian sitting in the M3W, desperately trying to fasten his seatbelt to go up the hill with Duarte, suddenly (thanks to SBM's intiative) finds himself surrounded by grid girls legs and has to pose for a photo. There's a picture of this somewhere and it is really funny.
2 - Dinner at the museum. A lovely time for us all to know each other just a litle bit better, and in a perfect surrounding.
3 - Going up the hill with Jays as co-driver. It was an honour to have his trust, and a pleasure in the end to understand he enjoyed the experience.
Calum, I see you decided to go North, I wish you a safe journey through the Picos, you'll enjoy those roads and scenic views (The Wild Mogs can tell you also a thing or two about that particular region)
About Chaves (which btw, is correctly pronounced as "Shaavch" ) you took some great pictures as usual
What neither Calum or Mario mentioned was that the entire team was disqualified under the new rules that limit the speed to the maximum you could do if you exactly stuck to the speed limits. Unfortunately the entire team was too fast and therefore disqualified.
Mario was going for the fastest time anyway and was only pipped on the last run by a car that was much more powerful. Certainly he was the fastest with a 2 litre engine. I was never in the running because I kept getting faster on the last section. Calum, on the other hand was consistently getting faster but by some mystery of timekeeping and scoring for speed was not only disqualified for excessive speed but having the best score of those disqualified walked away with the trophy for third place.
