found it... the seller on e bay was - thealuminiumshop

£13.99 and it was 0.9 thick, I also sourced some edge trim to prevent slashing my wrists when using the handbrake!

So I have fitted the Mig clock now. It was highly reliable when indoors, but now that it is in the car, it is prone to stop while the car is cold. This is probably due to the temperature change, its location is just ahead of the heater as per Steve T, and it works well when warm. (hot, actually). I have a pal who works in oil additives and says his company used to supply lubricants for such things and recognised the problem.
So, has anyone connected the heater unit? I am presuming 12v supply will work ok, the heater unit was probably rated for high altitude so 27v not needed.
Btw, Steve, that's a lovely installation, mine is a bit more basic, but it'll be a nice project to improve it when I get time.

Hi, had problems with a slow running MIG clock fitted to my very open Ariel Atom. Once fitted to the 12v supply, clock kept good time.
You can of-course turn the right hand knob on the clock one click to stop the clock if you only run the car now and then.
My MIG clock ran very well for nine years and was still running after I wrote the Atom off at high speed.

Crikey, I knew those Aerial Atoms were quick, but to experience time dilation as postulated by Einstein's theory of special relativity - that's going really fast!!
