Varies Steve. If I have a longish trip or know there isn't enough fuel for a return trip to be taken in the next few days I'll fill up at the end of a trip.

Does anyone else fill up after a trip before you get out and leave the car, or do you wait until the next journey to fill up.. No, I just fill up every 250 miles or thereabouts.

I try to always have enough in the Tank to be off to wherever I am headed. I get excited about a run - and stopping for fuel seems an avoidable hindrance at the start. Quite happy to stop mid trip - thats quite ok. But not at the start!!

Filled up in Spain just before Barcellona, much cheaper than Italy. Then a rather nightmarish ferry (more on that when I get time in the Soapbox) and we arrived in Genoa at 7:00 this morning. Being the last to drive on we were one of the first off (nearly an hour after arriving in the port plus a good 20 minutes waiting in queues for customs and passport control) and arrived home after an uneventful drive at about 11:00. The tank is probably still half full of 98 RON Spanish fuel. At this point I will probably fill up after the car has been vacuumed out, washed, and the kingpins greased. Now I have a bit of office workawaiting me and then I will try to sort out some photos

Does anyone else fill up after a trip before you get out and leave the car, or do you wait until the next journey to fill up.. I keep the tank full, for two reasons... The obvious one, so that the car is always ready..... And because I was told fuel keeps better when there is only a small headspace above the fuel.

And it stops the tank corroding i.e. less fuel equals more space for condensation, especially in winter. Keep the tank full when the car is laid up over winter.

Also a good reason, especially if the tank is not stainless steel... Tarka is quite modern so the tank is stainless.. not totally corrosion proof, but a lot better than mild steel!
