Trade off is a hand built car built *to a low price*.

Morgan can’t afford to be a Bugatti in terms of quality or customer service. The question is can they also afford NOT to be (seen as a) a quality manufacturer, or up the game on customer service? They are already hitting regulatory costs on the M3W, minimal wait list for the Trads.

I hope they can weather the storm. Perhaps their recent price hikes are to pay for more customer care and attention?

Is it because they are hand built? Or is it inherent mechanical design and development? My money is completely on the latter and I can list a lot of examples to support it.

Obviously Morgan don't have the budget of an OEM. Customers are willing to put up with a lot due to brand, heritage and uniqueness, but certainly there is an expectation of 'reasonable' reliability which is still a given.

Consider that Dyson has hundreds of people designing vacuum cleaners and hand driers, and associated production engineering, for example. Versus a handful at Morgan?

My M3W has been reliable, and fun. But requires an open mind to potential costs. For example last weekend I discovered:
- rubber mount covers for the oil tank had partly slipped off (potentially leading to metal-to-metal wear of the oil tank - not something you want to leak long-term)
- so I undid the nuts for the oil tank straps so I could reseat the rubber mount covers. one of the captive bolts stripped. oops - something to be drilled out and replaced!
- really I dont want an oil tank resting on 2 ridges of metal (a design issue - what were they thinking?) - I want to add some metal straps lengthwise to spread the load from the ridges, as the rubber interfaces are bound to wear and/or fall off again
- meanwhile the oil feed from the tank dips under the tank mount and was fraying nicely (a design issue - metal-to-hose contact point not a good idea). added some tape to prevent it cutting in further... . other fray points looked to have had foam added so maybe this was missed in production or fell off ...

There we go again, two countries separated by a common language.

After being on here several years, I should have said gearbox instead of transmission.

At work I'm now typing aluminium rather than aluminum, just to screw with people.

And as far as I can remember, there was only one gearbox issue and that was a rear tailshaft seal. At least posted on the forum.

All I can say is they seem to be surviving the problems surrounding the M3W builds, but what I really hope is that they have learnt many lessons from the experience prior to launching another new product.

Rather optimistically I am hoping this to be the case with the EV3 battery hold up.
