When you say "in the end they replaced the boxes' under the running boards" - was this with straight through pipe to the rear or did they fabricate some new style boxes which are less restrictive?

There is a company in Southampton which is well know for custom fabricating exhausts Peter. I was looking at taking the ML63 down to have some of the muffle removed prior to a DMS re-map for a laugh.

The issue is that change of back pressure on a large scale can adjust the map and tune etc.

No boxes at the rear at all, one issue is that there is a need for a few angles in the pipe on the way back, but seems ok ... and the £500 that it cost for the job, cans, pipe and tailpipes not too bad! I will try and find way to let your hear the noise ... I assume too big a file for the usual means but I will see if we can use Dropbox and give whoever wants a link. I am away from home until this evening but sounds like a job for tomorrrow afternoon 🤓

Tarka has a single oval silencer under each running board, nothing at the back. The 1 into 2 finishers are a bit restrictive at the end.
I am wondering about a slim glass pack silencer and new end pipes.

James ... the diameter of the tips is 9.5 cm

The silencer under the running board sits a little lower than the original but is still higher than the lowest parts of the underside and is not noticeable from standing

Apologies that the cleaning of the underside is not up to standard and the tips have not recently been polished 🤓

Only been for an evening swim at the local leisure centre, but stepping out of the car to open the garage door - these things do look fantastic in the dark with their lights on; especially with that big old moon shining down on it.
