Not sure you can use the car / inflation equation to get a guide to the cost of a Morgan today. A fiesta Ghia MK1 was as basic a car as it gets - the Ghia meant faux wood and more soundproofing. A fiesta today has so much more technology as standard such as ABS - climate control - air bags - traction control possibly - pre tension seat belts, cat etc etc. Now compare the Morgans development errr let me think errr - Ah well less is more hence why they cost so much 🤔😄

Have to agree Peter, and as a wood fan (boats) for the money some of the protective finishing around the rear of the current classics leaves a little to be desired. In this day and age we can do a lot better in terms of timber protection and therefore keeping the cars light and more stiff as some of the restorers do around the world . I guess what I am saying is the ally and paint are good as is the leather - how about a little attention to the unseen bits then Morgan can say this is a truly a sorted bespoke vehicle genuinely worth two MX5's or a lot more than a really cool well sorted production Caterham. Perhaps when the modern suspension option is pushed forward .....

Actually the Plus 4 is something of an anachronism today and it is not really fair to compare it to a Fiesta as the modern descendant of the Anglia. Considering the developement of the Fiesta by comparison with the Anglia (ABS, airbags, aircon, etc.) you would probably have to compare today's Fiesta to the Aero based Plus 8 for any real equivalent.
