Just picking this up, but have we agreed that for an S1 we should stick with the 225 OEM size?

Hi all, My S1 was on 225/40 all round now have 255/35 on the back end and it does feel more planted. Had the rears fitted at Techniques on my last service, Brian at Techniques says that's what he runs on his S1 and a lot of his customers do the same.

That's a big difference in size, do you have the centre lock wheels?
Some pictures would be great as well, interested to see how it looks..

So I opted for. Staggered set up, 225/40/18 fronts and 245/35/18 rears, Yokohama advan sport V105's. Only done 2miles and 35mph so no real feedback. With the wheel off the 225 tyre does look stretched on the rim, quite obviously so! Did notice the new tyres picking up all the stones and firing then into the arches and underneath, so must be more grippy.
Toto TR-1's that came off were 3-4mm front and at indicators on rear, but the date stamp was week 16 2008, so well over sure a change.
No cracks but a slight buckel on the near front and a worn trackrod/steering arm as it has some play, but not noticed on the MOT.
Will do 50 or so miles tomorrow and check all nuts and screws and pressures.....then Nurburgring next week!

Did 25 miles yesterday and no drama at all. Ride feels similar to before and the grip is better but the old tyres were old remember. No down side anyway

Good to hear, I am curious as to how it will feel under hard acceleration. I find on 225s it can be a little slithery but predictable, I guess my concern is whether or not the extra grip would make it more snatchy so to speak rather than just aiding traction.
