Gents,
My Plus 8, 3.9 had the vacuum advance tube disconnected by the previous owner.
I have now found out why it was disconnected after finding that the diaphragm assembly was loose and causing erratic and sticking advance and retard settings.

I would now like to refit the tube to give me better cold starting and smoother running.

Can anyone help me out with a photo of their distributor alignment with the shot being taken from above the belt pulley?

May thanks
Mikey

Gents,
Could you include me on the communication here - my 3.9 is running a little lumpy...(occasionally cuts out)

Appreciated

Update, I sent Mike a pic of my distributor set up but it is not the same as his.
Mike, you could put your pic on here and ask again. Someone will recognise a similar setup and send pic.
I have had a couple of issues with my car. Very Occasional pinking and even more occasional cutting out. Nothing to worry about but if anyone has any comments I would be grateful.

PS Mikey, I omitted to welcome you to the forum, I am sure you will find out all you need in due course.

Here I go discussing a subject I know little about. BUT! There is an Amplifier on or near the Dizzy. If on the Dizzy it gets hot and fails. Some move the amplifier to a cooler place. BTW: as I do not have Fuel Injection I replaced My Dizzy with a DELCO Dizzy. The DELCO is an old fashioned Points Dizzy used on the Buick 215. Predecessor of the Rover 3.5 & 3.9.
