Hi all ,

Over winter I am hoping to fit a power off point (cigarette lighter to us older ones) between the seats, to the rear panel. The aim is to use as a battery conditioner and power off for sat nav etc, as she who must be obeyed cannot read maps.
If anyone has done this and can give me a heads up, that'll help a lot.

I've done that, it's a really simple job. A couple of wires from the battery, an in-line fuse, and a socket. I did mine as an unswitched (i.e. always on) setup so I could use it to charge the battery. The only downside is that you have to remember not to leave stuff plugged in to it otherwise you'll flatten the battery

I fitted one, via the red key cut off, but it is used purely to power phone charger / SatNav etc. I fitted a Ctek charger lead direct to the battery.
Both via inline fuse holders.

Best to use a quality socket into which the plug locks with a twist.

Yep, that's the place to go. I've used them for years, excellent service. I used a couple of lengths of 3mm 27A cable (red and black), a couple of ring terminals, an inline 20A Blade fuse, brass bullet connectors and sleeves, spiraband wrapping, and an external accessory socket.

I drilled a hole through the rear bulkhead just above the transmission tunnel to pass the wires through, and connected the accessory socket to the wires with bullet connectors. The wires were wrapped in spiraband and ziptied to the tubular crossmember. The ring terminals go on to the clamp bolts for the battery connections, and were soldered to the wires with a bit of heat shrink to keep everything neat and tidy.
