The rear axles come from Malaysia now so I suppose it depends on whether the volumes are still viable.

BMW may have a suitable IRS. (I'm only speculating).

Maybe, just maybe, this could trigger the intro of a modern rear suspension!

Holden Australia is/was a General Motors division. I don't believe Holden UK is related.

Cheers,

They use the same supplier for rear axles on certain models. In a much larger volume than MMC. The query is whether the closing of Holden (an Oz car manufacturer and subsidiary of GM for donkeys years) will mean the axle supplier will stop manufacture of those that MMC needs... smile or maybe frown

The original manufacturer was BTR in Australia and then production moved to Malaysia with another company name which presently escapes me...........
It's on a label on the rear axle of the current trads.

Adoption of the BTR axle dictated the rear axle width, which widened by an inch or two at the change point.

Could they not use a Suzuki axle from the Jimny or even buy the tooling from GM?
