Debating whether to take the Morgan tomorrow over to Ludlow, back Tuesday from Cambridge. If that storm changes direction I don't fancy driving back roofless in high winds.

Just back from a weekend trip. Friday's drive down the M5 wasn't the most pleasant with the headwind. As i was running early I diverted off at Jn 22 for a drive up Cheddar Gorge - never driven it! Car needs a wash now. Anyway long round trip to Street, passing an oncoming, roof on, Ivory coloured Morgan before dropping down into Wells. Saturday, took my pal down to Berrybrook again. Good to meet up with Martin (Deano)and G4LZU (hope I've remembered the call sign correctly). One of the "model" showman's engines was in steam, great to watch, might upload a photo next week. However, what really caught my eye was a Y suffix (1982'ish?) SL280, with hardtop and only 52,000 miles. Tooka while to get the bonnet open, but the car looked really clean and in good condition. Apparently had been traded in against a +8. Surprised there weren't more visitors. Unfortunately, none of Henry's Mum's chocolate cake, though the available cake wasn't bad . Back to Street for Saturday evening, then a pleasant drive back via Shepton Mallett, Frome, Trowbirdge and up the A350/A429/A417 to home. heading north through the village of Kemble and what should be heading south but that dark coloured HT11MOG. Big waves, of course Once I'd turned right off the A429 to head north to Cirencester there was another Morgan heading south toward Tetbury - more Waving of course. Great couple of days, will really miss the Morgan comradeship out on the road, but knackered knees, plus a need to downsize the "fleet" mean a maximum of 2 motors...

Quick run out before the storm and I think lots of others were thinking the same - 3 Lady Diana Audi drop tops and about 6 MX5's with the roof down, big growly bikes and around 3 Lambrettas so a nice selection of vehicles on my 30 mile country trip. Graham if I'm reading that right you are keeping the Landie and Ford then, you know so many Mog owners you'll never be far away from a ride .

Graham I believe HT11 are Harry and Steve on here. Met them today at Prescott. Shocked to hear you are giving up your Morgan, I guess the knee joints are dictating the sale. Bum*er.

Graham if I'm reading that right you are keeping the Landie and Ford then, you know so many Mog owners you'll never be far away from a ride . The 90 remains - most practical vehicle I own. Replace Ford with something more "interesting", think emerging classic, perhaps. Thanks for the offer of navigator's seat! Still be at Morgan gatherings, just have to park in the background somewhere! Ian, it's not just the knees. I want more security for photo kit and preferably a drive that doesn't turn into a semi swimming pool at the first sign of a shower... After 12 good years, the time is coming to move on.

Because you've already got the Landie for that...? Good luck finding your emerging classic, some interesting unloved stuff out there...

Well, as far as my right knee goes when it's been parked on the driveway in the rain. But after the inner roof gutter has emptied I don't suffer any further (until the next rain when it's parked nose up on the driveway ). There's a lot of unloved stuff out there. Much of it should stay that way!

Graham it will be most interesting to see what emerging classic you settle on, as you say there is some really nice cars out there amid the average ones.
