At the moment the heater control on my car is in manual mode (I've removed the motor controller)
The Motor controller thingy under the bonnet isn't the issue ( I've got 3, 1 of them new, none work) I think it may be elsewhere (switch?)
Anybody else have heater issues they've managed to fix?
I'm probably going to rig up some sort of cable affair in The ethos of KISS.

I've got all the parts to replace the heater valve on my S2. Heat is pretty much always on. The AC blows just cold enough to offset the heat that is always coming out of the vents.

However, I noticed something else recently, that the foam weather-stripping on top of the heater intake does not reach all the way to the bonnet. About a half inch gap means that a good portion of the air is being drawn from the HOT engine compartment. This weekend, I removed all the original weatherstripping, and put on a thicker 1" strip al the way around. It now seals properly against the bonnet, and the air coming from the vents is decidedly cooler. Good luck!

yep; did mine too after Gambalunga (I think...) posted on how he had 'fettled' his Trad. in a similar fashion.

I used neoprene* sheet with an adhesive backing; cut it to shape and used two layers on the actual heater box and replicated the shape on the bonnet itself.This way ,the two sections mesh together to form a pretty good seal.

It does seem to help in keeping hot engine bay air from the heater intake......

Noticed similar traits on my series 5 particularly when the car is stationary, the temperature from the heater climbs / a/c temp increases. Checked the sealing between air box and bonnet and exactly the same condition exists as mentioned above with a 15m/m gap between seal and bonnet. In addition, the bonnet louvres are 50 m/m wider each side than the air box so impossible to fully seal against the bonnet even if increasing the seal height. Is that also the same on the series 1and 2?
