I managed to stop an elderly and slightly confused lady putting diesel in her petrol car yesterday. It was V-Power but I don't think that would have helped. I have to say that I find the V-Power pumps confusing sometimes.

One of the benefits of mindfulness exercises, it makes it much easier to be consciously engaged with whatever one is doing. Mistakes like this are all too easy when one is doing one thing and thinking about another.

I thought it was impossible to put diesel into a petrol car because of the larger diameter pump handle outlets on diesel pumps? All the missfuelings I've heard of have been petrol into diesels.

I must admit the Vpower petrol and diesel pumps are easy to confuse in a rush. The non-Vpower are straightforward.

John, good job stopping the old lady.
I noticed at Shell stations: Diesel has an associated colour on the pump: black Gasoline has an associated colour on the pump: geen
Associated colour, means that one of these things has the colour: lables, color of font of lettering, handle, hose.
V-power adds the colour red. Success with filling up at Shell!

It is easy to mistake pumps. The multi fuel pumps are sometimes jumbled Back in the summer I put a diesel nozzle into the mog but only 1 litre went in. The hoses were both black for diesel and V-Power., with a green hose for the 95 octane. I ended up getting the diesel for free and the woman on the till said it often happened. I now read the label on the nozzle with more care first. Why not standardise and have a red (say) hose for diesel with black/ green for the petrol? Any added visual aid would help.

The small petrol nozzle, and fuel tank fillers, only became obligatory when lead free petrol cars were introduced. This was to stop leaded petrol being put in lead free cars during the interim change over period when both types of petrol were available.
