Hello from Florida: Hoping that some of you can provide some advice on an electrical problem on my 2005 Roadster (LHD, US model).

While at Gator-Mog meet in West Palm this weekend the lights stopped functioning. (no, it was not raining at the time).

Specifically, the running lights, including tail lights, and headlights on dim (but not bright), dash lights, fog lights, and some others I have probably forgotten, all died. Brake lights, turn indicators and flashers all work. Engine starts, runs, and all gauges except clock still function.

We checked all fuses we could find (both in fuse box and the three on the center line above engine). Nothing. Also rotated relays but nothing. Are there any other fuses, perhaps inline somewhere?

That is the problem in a nutshell.

Can anyone provide any insight, thoughts, observations, or experiences on the issue? Really appreciated.

PS. Car made the three hour drive home next day uneventfully, in daylight.

John,
it could be the dreaded PCB board. Do the warning lights light up on the dash with the lights on or off?

It could maybe be the indicator stalk also.

JohnV6: No warning lights illuminate. Additional info: Car has a Kauffelt dash with Lucas type light switch similar to that found on old MGs.

Hope it is not the PCB board.

My 2005 has a fuse box on the bulkhead. No6 is dash module, No8 is main feed to main fuse box. Both 20A.

On the underdash fuse box, No4 is dash module.
Nos 11-16 are the lights.

Those in the know do say that fuse boxes vary, so don't trust the guide.

Have you checked your ground wire connection. I had an MG Midget that died in the Everglades. After checking all the fuses I found it was a bad connection on the engine/body ground wire-- it was tight but corroded under the washer. It was only 98 degrees and 99% humidity that day!!

Strange that the clock has stopped. That does sound like an earth issue and not the PCB

I'm not so sure because the lights all have their own earth.
If the fuses check out I would test the column stalk for power. If no power at the stalk then work back. Not sure if the board would have an earth. Maybe so if there's an inbuilt relay.

The PCB has it's own earth.

I tried reading the wiring diagram in the parts book, but I am having a hell of a time deciphering it. Anyone know how to read this thing??

Cheers,
