I think you’ve made a good move and Morgan must have done something right or we wouldn’t both be attracted to the brand. TheARP4 is the one I would swop for too, but I don’t want to be without any cars I already have, so I’ll just have to save up and get them all!

Post up some shots please, especially the red chassis, I’d buy one just for that alone

8000 miles in and still loving the ARP4. Personally I would have preferred an engine with more torque lower down in the power band but as previously reported I've now learnt how the Cosworth engine needs to be driven - and it's great fun if you enjoy the gear changes and the high revs. Unlike Eddie I actually love the pops and bangs of the rev overhang but that of course is a personal preference, and you just can't beat the styling of that dashboard. I'm also a fan of the LED lights and the gloss wheels.

I've just posted on another thread that the handbrake issue was resolved by switching to softer brake pads - the original MMC 'fix' having failed to do the trick. Krazy Horse sorted this one.

Had to replace the 'sender' when the engine oil light lit up, and a new fuel tank was needed when the original split at the seams causing petrol to splash out when going round a bend with a full tank - took a couple of thousand miles to work that one out (my thanks to BHM), as I'd been told that the smell was probably due to me not driving the car fast enough and not therefore burning off the fumes!

It's a super car but it seems to me that with Morgan it's simply a matter of matching the right model to the whims and wishes of the particular Morgan lover. There's one there for all of us but it's not always easy to get it right first time - especially (as with the release of limited editions such as the ARP4), if there's no opportunity for a test drive prior to purchase.

The ARP dashboard is so good that it should have been made available on the Plus 4 as an option. I would have had one.

But how could MMC release a high powered car with an expensive engine and no oil pressure gauge?

Easy enough to put right of course, like most of the other 'faults' and ommisions on the car. I am planning to take out the clock and put the oil pressure gauge in that position. The big problem is to find a matching bezel. Does anyone know who makes the existing 52mm dials in the +4?

Whilst at it, I plan on having a changeover switch so that I can put an oil temperature sender in the dry sump pan, and use the existing water temperature gauge to display both.

A couple of nice little winter jobs to keep me from being under my wifes feet!

Didn't Smiths once do a a gauge that showed oil and water temperature, 2 needles on one face?

Amusingly the C43 has 3, yes Three, temperature gauges.....the standard water one, a pseudo analogue one in the instrument cluster, plus digital ones for oil temperature and gearbox oil temperature. It takes far, far longer for the gearbox oil temperature to reach "normal" than the engine oil and the water.

The "book" advises not using the Sport plus mode until the gearbox is properly warm.

I have that problem too Peter, except in my case as it's fully manual it's me that has to warm up for those quicker changes!

Does your C43 have an F1 style "lift and save" mode on trailing/zero throttle? My 45 does - deactivated until all fluids including gearbox oil hit operating temperature. Makes a noticeable (+/-5mpg) difference to consumption - until I figured out the link to gearbox temp I thought the car had an intermittent fault
