I would consider myself an enthusiastic driver. While the Cokers did outlast the Blockleys I sensed no difference in grip. I think the main difference is that the formulation on the Blockleys may be old school while the formulation on the Coker line is very modern.
The 'rubber' just seems to hold up better.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

My Avons lasted 7,000 miles and my 1st set of Blockleys 11,000.
They are a great improvement over the Avons and I've just had a second set fitted at MWS.

My first pair of Avons lasted about 3,000 miles. I then learned to up the pressure from the recommended 22lbs to 27. It helped but not by much.
For any interested in keeping Avons in the future please remember that this particular tire is for the rear/side car of a motorcycle. It was not designed for the stresses encountered by a steering wheel holding up so much weight!
Its bias rating resembles that of a soft noodle...

If I remember correctly I got almost 5000 miles from the original Avons and have had from 5000 to 7000 out of each pair of the Blockleys. The current pair must be on about 6000 at the moment with a fair bit of tread left.

I currently have Coker Excelsior Comp H tires and am very happy with them.
2015 M3W, Morgan Aero Racing Stage 1, Garage 56 Stage 2, sport black, saddle tan, jeweled SS dash.

I have a question on the Avon tires.
I take it these are 19", but they are truly motorcycle tires, not a side car tire? Or are they as someone said, rear motorcycle tires?
Yes, I think the side wall strength would be a bit different than a car type or side car type tire. But I remember seeing pictures of MMC racing a M3W with 18" fronts and Avons.
Do you know what the load rating is for the Avons and speed rating? Not many tires have a load range high enough for the weight of the M3W.

Hi Dan, i think the tyres you are thinking about are Avon Am26 Roadrider tyres. They have a wide profile for racing etc and come with 149mph rating. They are 130/80/18`s.

Ps, they have a load rating of 66, which equals 300kg and a speed rating of V which is 149mph.
