My wiper blades (2005 4/4) have little black plastic caps at the ends. I have lost two, presumably when washing the car. I guess they are there to reduce the likelihood of scratching the screen should the blade flatten out, but they don't seem to be a very tight fit. Do they matter? Does anyone know where I can find replacements - I can't see them listed in the usual places (Rutters, Heart of England)?

I had exactly the same experience - try Heart of England - I bought some spare ones while buying something else from them. Their service was great and very fast delivery to Belgium. I also bought a few spare bonnet corner protectors anticipating I will probably lose one or more of those sometime !

Yes, these end caps are a nuisance  ... as I got tired of crawling on the floor with a searchlight after washing my car I took them off. Does anyone in this community have a better solution to protect the end of the wiper blades??

Ironically (as we travel our parallel universe - Nigel!) I actually siliconed mine on two weeks ago after I treated my car to new blades at Buxton. (last of the big spenders!) as I had flicked (note careful use of keyboard) off these too often.

N, Ring John W at HoE- I buy 'em from him a dozen at a time Like a few other posters, I silicone them on! Cheers, G PS You don't even have to wash the car to lose them. If, as sometimes happens, the end of the blade moves over the screen frame, that will dislodge them- no trouble!

Why not buy the old blades that don't have them?

Mine fell off the first time I used the wipers and amazingly the car seems to function well without them !

I find a small dab of super glue does the trick, I think the blades look finished off with the end caps. available from the factory in person or a dealer.

Thanks, I'll give John W a ring. Funnily enough I have not lost one in the time I have had the car (goodness me, nearly 3 years now) until last weekend. My concern is that a long drive in the wet might generate enough flex in the blades to let the metal edge contact the glass, and cause scratching. Has anyone had this happen or should I not worry?

I have had Morgans with the old blade without an end cap for 8 years now without the problem you describe
