Bumping DaveW's post as I am starting to think about the best way to make the fuel system on my 2014 4/4 E10 resistant. I usually use Shell or Esso premium fuels but wanted to plan on an upgrade so the car is future-proofed. And especially as a mate found that the Morgan replacement fuel filler hose can take several weeks to arrive.

Wondering what the team thinks.

Also - DaveW - if you were to re-do this job on your +4 - how would you go about it?

Well Paul, with the aluminium chamber under the cap, if I remember it properly, two lengths of hose would do it.

But with the T hose, I tried my best to fabricate a solution, and I couldn't make it work, due to the short and curved length between the filler cap and tank.

Even the proper replacement was a pig to locate under the filler cap.

I understand that as of 2011 all cars sold in the uk had to be ethanol compliant, up to 10%.

The MMC statement reproduced in the May edition of Miscellany (Page 10) says:
“Rubber fuel pipes, pre CX-Generation, are not E10 compliant”

This statement has an asteroid which points to a line which reads”
“This applies to all steel-chassis cars up to 2020.”

There is a load of other info and the line:
“On recent traditional Morgans, the only obvious “soft rubber” parts of the fuel system are the filler pipes and tank vents etc. These will definitely need upgrading, according to MMC.”

The article also quotes MMC as saying that they are sending information to enable a statement to be added to the .gov information. It’s not on the UK site yet.

There is more detail in the Miscellany article if you need it.

If that's true, MMC are a shower, so they admit selling non-compliant vehicles post the 2011 law

Perhaps a group legal action against their despicable action, might wake them up?
The more they get away with...

Simplest possible solution in my view is to use an additive. I've used Castrol Valvemaster Plus for years on my old engines, but it's not compatible with catalytic converters. There are cat-friendly additives available, such as Miller's EPS. Dead easy to carry a bottle with you and chuck some in every time you fill up. Only downside is that it adds £7 or so to the cost of a 50l tankful.
