I need to replace mine....front.....trad Plus8.
Anyone know a part number? About £80 for both from a dealer so looking to source from a motor factor.
I will do inner and outer.

Have you ordered the oil seal as well, I've an SKF part number for the seal if it helps?

Should be much less than £80 a side even for Timken bearings.

Found the gomog info but was struggling to find a supplier.
Arwyn, I looked at Wych and they show on there...quite a bit less £££ too!
I would like the seal number too, please.

Bear in mind that there are at least 2 different types of inner wheel bearing fitted to +8's and the same with oil seals, and all of them are different to older 4/4's and +4's

There's 2 different lengths of stub axle, and 3 different major diameters......



To the best of my knowledge, the stub axles have been the same since around 1991/2 on the +8, but these are Morgans...

I'd pull a hub off and measure before ordering anything

Both the seal & bearing numbers will be on the old bearings/seal.

If they are metric they are cheap as chips. If they are Imperial, they will be ££££

I was hoping someone had done the job to ID the bearings. I will have to dismantle and check the bearings ID.
The gomog info gives the pist 1991 part numbers, but, as you say Simon, it is the MMC we are dealing with!
My car is a 2002 Plus8.
Here’s hoping it dismantles without trauma!

Strange! Why did your wheel bearings fail? How are You so sure they need to be replaced without taking them out and inspecting them? Also do You know what You are looking at when You do inspect them? I did not!! Took them to a Machinist and He inspected them for Me, they were bad so the Machinist ordered a new set of proper bearings. All of this was advice from "My Mentor". You have a Mentor don't You? (Grin)

There is a slight “rumbling” sound when the wheel is rotated, very slight. Not anything to do with brakepads etc.. i will be inspecting them for smoothness/play/visual. No idea yet why the noise/failure until inspected.
Seal failure?
Poor greasing?
Low mileage by previous owners with car standing for long periods?
I do about 7k a year but previous did much lower or long periods of standing.
Time will tell.
I was tempted to simply replace them due to time constraints but a window has opened to create some time. MOT is looming soon!
The Morgan is needed to get me about as needs the tintop.

Sometimes the grease in the front bearings is only just enough to get by from new. Some greases liquify with heat and so even if there's a slight noise when cold it may disappear when warmed up.

The other thing to watch is when nipping up the nut on refitting, not too tight and not too slack. The feel comes with experience!
