Haven´t seen my car in over four months (!), as the original style compensator decided to disintegrate on a sweet Sunday runabout. Couldn´t be worked on locally, then came the holidays and noone worked at all and finally it was lifted off to the Swedish main dealer, some 300 miles away.
Asked to have the clutch replaced, as the engine was out anyway. They also found a defective battery, worn out rear sprocket (and belt), worn out rear tyre, (no surprise there), and shockingly a cracked gas tank. Apparently a weld had cracked/given up high on the front of the right side tank. A wet looking stain with lots of dirt in it om the tank and the surrounding areas. It hasn´t smelled of gas, so I guess it is all the way up on top. Have only seen a picture, so I´m not sure.
It still isn´t done. They are waiting for parts.
One more thing to worry about, people!

The tank itself, or the mounting bracket onto the fuel tank?

The way I understand it the tank itself, as it was leaking gas.

Sorry to hear your troubles DocNik and really hope they get to grips with it soon. I guess it will be next Spring now before you get a run out.

I had the same in the left hand tank, I believe it was a weld failure and I know of at least one other incident.
MMC offered to re weld it but as I needed it done quickly I had my dealer fit a new one.
For info, the new tank does not include the plywood base which will need to be transferred from the failed one.

I'm the other one - My tank failed on the mount weld - fuel tanks & oil tanks can be re-welded but obviously they must be drained vented flushed dried & vented again prior to welding. - Morgan took care of mine as the car was still under warranty but there are specialist who can carry out these sort of welding tasks and it is specialist work.
Chris is absolutely correct about the bonding of the ply but you may not need a new tank - Morgan direct is probably the best option as they've seen a number of these issues.

I'm the other, other one! My tanks were changed by the factory the last time the chassis was changed.
