+1 to what Rog G said, these are now standard factory options.

As these are for European compliance I would hope that US cars are still available to the "Classic" spec without all the ugly bits.

I find it unbelievable that the factory will take off the Euro 4 compliant items before delivery. Surely that breaks all the rules?

A reasonable and interesting question Jays...

Yes and one that will become contentious among the rose coloured spectacle wearers in our midst..

Melvyn told me the factory are supplying all the Euro 3 parts and they are converting them back for about £1300. No warranty issues.

As much as I do not like the EU4 changes (and I am really glad I have one of the earlier EU3 types), I assume the changes are the result of some mis-guided legislation, and as such are a legal requirement.
If there is a datline after which new M3W's must meet the EU4 requirements (thank goodnes this is not retrospective and does not affect our EU3 cars as well), surely reverting EU4 cars back to EU3 versions is illegal.
If it is acceptable for this to be done, why cannot the cars be built this way in the first place?
What I cannot understand is that new owners will be paying for all the EU4 bits that will be taken off during the backward conversion and then paying a further £1300 for the conversion to be carried out.

Yet another example of bureaucracy gone mad and ultimately the end user is the one who pays.

Just to manage expectations - the factory option to revert a Euro4 to "Euro3" is in 4 parts which if you order all 4 is more like £1,650 inc VAT.

I suspect the factory could, in theory, still produce Euro 3 cars but then would have to get each one SVA approved (as they have done with a small number of run-out cars, including mine, earlier this year) but I guess that would be too inconvenient and expensive for them.

Maybe that's the get out clause in answer to Jay's question regarding converting back Euro 4 spec cars.
