We've just purchased a 1982 4/4 with very low miles (7,500 miles documented) and want to get a replacement air filter. This is a Ford powered 4/4, 1.6 liter. The air filter in the car is stamped SA6002, 112316, CH11. I note that K&N offers a filter, part #E-9090, and was wondering if this is the only option. Somehow, the pictures of the K&N filter don't look exactly like the filter in the car, which may be the original. We would welcome any responses on the best replacement air filter for this car. Thank you!

Hi there alohamorgan. Just check the cross references on the various part catalogues or post a photo of the existing set up as an aid.

In any case some of the considerable expertise on here will be along very soon with assistance.

I changed mine a few weeks ago to a k&n, I just searched the part number for the old one to see what car it was from and then looked that up on k&n website.

Hello
If your engine and filter are standard like my ‘82 4/4.
It should have an Escort XR3 engine (CVH) with a carburettor, not injection.
If you type XR3 air filter into Ebay there is one for sale for £6.95.

Looks just like mine except mine has a rusty grey casing, you must have the rusty black option.
So any XR2 or XR3 air filter should be OK.

K&N is the way to go.
You can see it on my 86 cvh engine. It gives a nice induction roar

You junk the old airbox (or stick it on your garage shelf )

@stevemag et al. We've had a number of Morgans, and this is the first one we've ever had that came with an air filter! All the rest have been +4 cars, and the +4 fourseater we have now has OEM Strombergs, so one of these carbs breathes right off of the skin of the bonnet half!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed your posted pictures. She saw a man after her own heart--wash the car then on to the gardening!

Attached please find a picture of our "new" 4/4, a 1982 with about 7,500 miles on the clock. It was purchased from Allon White Son (Cranfield) LTD. I'd like to know whether you all regard this car as highly optioned, but the original sales receipt indicates these factory extras: Cream Crackers Two Tone Paintwork (Nut Brown Wings/ Royal Ivory Body); Stone leather upholstery; Wire wheels; Stone Hood, Tonneau cover, and Sidescreens; Luggage carrier; Reclining Seats; Plus Eight Spot Lamps; Locking Petrol Caps; Bonnet strap; Aluminium Body and Wings; Spare Wheel Cover; Rustproofing. The original owner shipped the car to Canada straight away, then drove to Maine. It sat in storage from 1990 until a few months ago.

Thanks again for the delightful photo. You've motivated me to develop an avatar! And, all, I appreciate the really good advice on a replacement air filter/air filter box. Aloha!

Very smart!
The quantity of mirrors nearly rivals a 1960s Lambretta smile
Looks as though it has a 4-seater windscreen?
