Do you know what has failed on your old ones

Has it burnt out completely?

I would like to know what on the dash module in my roadster drains the battery.

Did it die power off or only when you turned it on?

Is the dash module fuse over specced? Should it be lower? Did the fuse blow as well?

On mine with the side lights off nothing works apart from the hazards.

Switch on the side lights it all works.

When it failed the indicator lights flickered then it stopped , then it was fine now nothing. The fuses (20A on the bulkhead & 5A in the fusebox) are fine.

On my old unit the side lights don't work everything else does.

I have the MDE 4000 in my 4/4 2005. The car has the posibility for 2 speed fan. (Easy fix) I´m working with a PCB-les car. At the moment I only use the PCB for engine immobiliser, engin and battery warning light. I think this 3 light are from the ECU.

Are there anybody that have en ECU wire diagram?

Somebody with the necessary skills should be able to fabricate an analogue replacement for these boards. Surely?

I'm working on that - but it would be so much easier with a proper circuit diagram for the board. What would also help is not finding some of the connecting wires colours do not match the BS Au colour codes e.g. one is for "window winders" - on a Trad??? Hmmm.

No. Most functions appear to be normal.

I assume if you pull the fuse for dash panel supply your battery remains reasonably well charged?

Partial failure after it got wet from failed screen washer tubing (John's first pcb). I have located and repaired one dry joint. However, there is still another fault(s). AW believe the present pcb may have suffered a spike which has killed part of the circuitry. As I understand it they have seen identical fault on other models, but not on a Roadster, until now.

I don't think so. Parts of the board can carry quite high current, via the four relays. Failure of the wetted board did not blow the fuse(s).

DaveW - yes. However, I was never in the design side of things, nor did I fabricate boards. Proper wiring diagrams for the cars would help - those in the parts lists (and GoMog etc.) as Mark has already pointed out, are not vehicle circuit diagrams.

Sorry that could be a misunderstanding. Both the PCB and the MFU have been replaced with a completely hard wired system.

I now have the most incredible rack of relays. The only downside seems to have been that the MFU seems to also have something to do with the fuel and temperature gauges and getting them reading correctly has been something of an issue.

Peter,
does Borghi offer a kit to do this or would they share a wiring diagram?

@Graham

If I pull fuse 17 (radio / dash module /main buzzer) no drain at all

Removed radio to rule that out - made no difference.

I did have issue early on with mine that fan occasionally turned to single speed fan pins in big white block plug not seated home properly.

Early on I had a leak from the framework where the bonnet hinge screws had split the frame CTCCC fixed that.

If there is any chance of water reaching the module or PCB capillary action on cables to connectors or directly flowing onto PCB obviously that needs sorting first off, otherwise it would just keep taking out PCBs etc.

Putting components back together properly such as in my case the connector can cause heat in those poor contacts.

@all So if I have read this correctly it looks like it is using the sidelights circuit connections to feed the power or connect the return, I think you'd need to find out which on a live pcb, if a component has failed that normally handles this role feeding the power through another part of the circuitry which probably isn't designed to handle that power flow will lead to more failures.

Not trying to teach granny to suck eggs here, just thinking out loud as such.

When we have sorted out the final stages of our lounge decorating etc I may try and wrap my head around my layout in my Roadster and see if I can make it tie up with the harness diagram.

Morgan should be able to supply a circuit diagram, surely they didn't simply blindly leave that detail to a now defunct company?
