...
I've had no lumps of rubber but do get a strong burning rubber smell on acceleration and high revs.
Using a iPhone boroscope (thanks for the tip Big Steve) at least one rubber looks to have pretty much disintegrated so it's off to the dealer.
Funny I was just looking for an excuse to get one of those inspection scopes. I get the rubber smell too but assuming was the rear tyre... ! Chris, sorry to hear of your Centa issue. Paul, if you intend to use one of the cheap bore/endoscope devices with an Android phone, ensure it supports the use of OTG (on the go) USB cables. My smartphone didn't but thankfully my tablet did although both on Android 6.0.

That's not good Chris, I guess it is something we have all got to look forward to.

I feel your pain Chris... We really could do with a re-engineered arrangement for holding the engine to the intermediate bell housing that would allow the engine to be removed quickly and easily. Maybe one day.

Nicely done Richard. It's Centa Chris, not Centra. Maybe it's the fact that my brother and sister are teachers, but left uncorrected it'll be written as "Sentera" before we know it.

FWIW Chris, my smell of burning rubber disappeared during the Grindelwald trip and has not returned. No obvious signs of rubber barrel disintegration as yet, but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough - nor on the way the car drives just yet either. I may have to get me one of those endoscopes too then....

Thanks Guys for all the good wishes. Re the boroscope - I got a WiFi enabled one suitable for iOS: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292231247672It does come with a little 90 degree mirror but I found there was too much light scatter so got a cheapo dentist mirror and taped it to that. Also, it took me a while to realise that the compensator was in front of the hole in the bell housing, not behind so I'd spend quite a while looking the wrong way Unfortunately I can't get the video off the iPhone to post but will keep trying. Re the rubber smell - it was pretty much instant if I put my foot down above about 4,000 rpm.

Re the rubber smell - it was pretty much instant if I put my foot down above about 4,000 rpm. ... and that's exactly how mine started. The moment I pressed on at anything more than 3500rpm, the smell was instant. And now it's gone, weird. Guess a piece of rubber barrel may have made it out into the open somewhere and got friction burns when the load came onto the compensator gubbins as the whole thing flexed. Anyway, I've ordered and endo-thing to see what's what.
