Evo mag has an interesting article about the high revving two seater and no doubt it will not be lost on the bargain hunters out there , has anyone owned one and how was the experience. I don't know why they stopped production , would rather have one than an Mx5.

Someone in the US, can't remember his name, put a Honda S2000 engine into a Morgan. It goes very well, by all accounts. Button will know more.

Very good friend of mine had two.He was a PorschE and T.V.R man but loved the two Hondas. Very nice to drive, handled well and a nice engine although it was a bit different from most sports car engines. It took a little getting used to with the high revs. The engine was said to be the most reliable on the planet at the time. I don't know why they stopped production. I have a feeling they stopped importing before production stopped.

Not as an owner, but back when I used to work with KCS (they run Honda corporate hospitality events) we used them on hired circuits for punters to use. We'd take them out for three sighting laps, then slide over to watch the carnage as they charged around trying to play The Stig.

They are excellent little cars to drive, real firecrackers. Rear wheel drive and convertible, there's not much to dislike..! There was very little room in the cockpit as I recall, but they handled really well and revved like a banshee.

I think they suffered from a high VEL due to emissions, but these days I can easily understand why they would be high on the list of 'cars to keep an eye on'..

Had one for about three years. Extremely good car and great fun to drive so long as you drove it a bit like a 2 stroke bike, constantly in the power band, 6000 to 9000 revs. You do tend to be travelling quite quickly at that point.
Sold it to get the three wheeler as I needed something less practical.

My alloy bodied '63 is S2000 powered. It was a real mess when purchased but is now fully sorted and fun to drive. It's about 1000 lb lighter than the donor car and really flies when the VTEC kicks in.
regards,
Phil

I've got an early 99 S2000 that I've had for 11 years now. Used as my daily driver. It's on 174k miles of which I've done 90k of them. Been utterly brilliant, extremely reliable and overall cheap to run.

Utterly love it for an everyday fast convertible.

Every so often I've looked around to replace it, but it's just such great value for money. Depreciation is negligible now, if anything going up. Insurance for me is fine and if you get a pre 2006 car the tax is fine. Does about 27 to 28 mpg in everyday motoring. So just keeping it as a future classic and put money towards the Morgan

Would definitely recommend one, but must have good engine as these are worth nearly as much as the car second hand.

John Burks in Northern California made a light weight +4 using a Honda S2000. Tom Henderson, with John's help also installed a S2000 in His 4/4, I have ridden in this one. WOW! Grant Larsen Just South of San Francisco installed a S2000 in His +4-4Str and Frisbie near Santa Cuz in stalled one in His 4/4 as well as a Mustang front and a ISIS designed coil over rear suspension. I have driven Frisbie's 4/4. All of these S2000 were done by John Burks and His friends.
