So far as badges are concerned, my cooling issues notwithstanding, I actually like'em- I just display them in my garage on the walls so, I'm all for a TM badge G

So about cooling, sorry I'm sometimes so slow to understand: you believe a badge bar fitted with badges can be a problem ???

But a mesh grille can be a problem too or not ???

And if you have both badge bar and mesh grille ??? scared scared

I drive in very hot conditions in a tropical climat (see my location) and I never had any problem with 3 badges and a mesh grill.

But my mog' is a recent one.

The issue can be different with a more ancient classic.

I suspect it is just me being my usual overly- particular self! nerd but I do belive that the Morgan radiator can tend to run hot and I'm keen to do anything I can to prevent that.

I must confess, I do have a mesh grille- but my excuse for that is that I live at the end of a fairly long farm track and I fittedit to prevent any small stones flying into the radiator!!
Regards,
G

It's the laws of physics. maximum airflow is with no obstructions. Add the grille and it will reduce. Add a mesh and it will reduce. Add badges and it will reduce.
But it's not a linear effect, so standing still it will have no effect. Slow speed will have little effect. At higher speed the engine generates much more heat, so clean flow matters. But without scientific measurements you'll never be able to quantify the effect. Even uprated radiators don't provide a pro rata benefit, because the area behind the grille gets the most flow. You can't extend upwards, and extending downwards is usually masked behind the number plate. The lower you go, the more protection is needed - which reduces flow. A thicker core will help, but because the air heats up as it passes through the core, an extra half inch thickness won't give a proportional benefit due to the preheat. So - just be reasonable, and keep the badges as low as possible - it shouldn't be a problem.

NT, banghead NT, banghead NT, banghead NT, banghead now I'm developing a stutter.

Actually Graham, I quite fancied one of their badges ONCE. There is one on ebay this minute. I was wondering from wence they came. Then I realised, the NT used to fix them to the top of wooden stakes used to mark footpathes etc. So if anyone is wandering along one of these old footpaths where they still exist and may be prone to wet rot, think of me (and my sump) innocent
My badges (AA had to go to put up MOGMMX, Thus need for more badge capacity.

RAFA badge is in remembrance of my Father in Law - Would love to find a Submariners badge for the other end to remember my Father - Notice the turbulence reducing 'aerodynamic layout' Dave smirk2
