It rains in Florida everyday, mid afternoon, in the summer. I saw someplace, probably here, an umbrella tube that mounted horizontally across the luggage rack and allowed one to store the umbrella outside the car. Thoughts??
Cheers,
Mark

Check out the Jakar Teletube via Google, it may be the solution you are looking for. The only possible problem I can see could be securing it to the rack (anti-theft).

I have one, bought from Williams, attaches to the rear rack using badge bar brackets and doesn't interfere with luggage.

I found them both. Thank you. The Williams one looks to be quite nice, but a bit pricey. I do like the way it is secured though.

Sore bloody point I opened the garage this m/ing and outside its door some vermin had dumped a large plastic tubular tube full of wood cuttings . HE must of been combing his hair . The tube reminded me instantly of an umbrella stand. Council phoned . It rains in Florida everyday, mid afternoon, in the summer. I saw someplace, probably here, an umbrella tube that mounted horizontally across the luggage rack and allowed one to store the umbrella outside the car. Thoughts??

Morgan sell them through the on line shop. I've got one and it's great. It bolts onto the lower bar of the luggage rack and doesn't impede the use of the rack at all. Very nice and very shiny!

Ooh. And at a better price. At Morgan and cheaper?? Am I dreaming???
How fiddly is getting the umbrella out?? I don't want to be standing the rain, with the wife yelling at me.
Cheers,
Mark

When I had my last Morgan which had a luggage rack, I agonised for two years whether to get the shiny umbrella holder after seeing one on the back of a SwanMog 4 Seater
I didn’t know what it was when I first saw it but I knew I liked it so I had to ask the owner
I’ve seen both the Williams one and the MMC one and the Williams one is slightly better made in my opinion - maybe a higher grade of Stainless or better polished but feels to be a bit heavier
The MMC one has a bit of detail with regard to the canister opening end and is cheaper
I never got around to getting one, preferring instead to carrying a couple of very neat folding automatic umbrellas which collapse down to something no bigger than a pencil case in the cockpit
Usually stuffed in the side door pocket or in the glove box
The reason being that if I ever got caught in a heavy downpour with the hood down I’ve got an emergency rain relief readily to hand
It came in very handy once earlier this year when I got caught at some traffic lights in the rain
I had the tonneau cover on and the passenger side zipped up and was fine moving but not so so fine at the lights
You can’t get to an umbrella in a tube hanging off the back of the Mog in that circumstance but I do agree for touring it’s a really great idea
I wouldn’t be too worried about having the umbrella nicked on the Williams one as it’s pretty ambiguous what it is and nobody can readily see how it opens
And if you put a cheap golfing type umbrella in it, it’s not the end of the world but I doubt it’s going to be an issue

An umbrella is handy. I have put one up when caught in a shower at lights in Mumbles. Got a few smiles and stares! I have a Morgan golf brolly and it is a good one. Stewart, the cheap ones are cheap for a reason! I have had a couple out of necessity and they were basically throwaways. I also carry a couple of small collapsibles in the Mog as they stow away easily.
