As the big day approaches my mind wandered to Gifts from Xmas past - odd gifts!!

One former GF bought me a Door Stop - well in fairness it was a posh door stop - but a door stop nevertheless. Very thoughtful and practical gift she did not last long after that!!

Mind you she had history - her ex had bought her new Roof Gutters one Xmas

So whats the daftest/worse present you ever received???

I have a friend who bought his wife a new toilet seat for Christmas. Oddly, they are still married!

My father bought my mother a copy of Mrs Beetons cook book, she was not amused.

My mother once bought me a wooden man for the garden, made from small logs - typical garden centre sh*te. She paid a lot for it and I really thought she was taking the p*ss.

She wasn't.

In the seventies I bought the misses a home brew kit, what on earth was I thinking? We are still together so at least I found out she had a sense of humour.

A few times I have bought her tyres and once her work pals thought I was insane .There husbands had to spend a lot on them.

When courting bought black sexy knickers and bra got a large length of cardboard sketched a woman's body and pinned them to it with a romantic poem wrapped it up .
But OH HELL she opened it in front of her parents and two brothers . I just wanted to hide . The worst bit I had bought the wrong size and got hell off her still do .

I must be getting old as has told me don't forget the best ones.
1n 1988 a Thornton's chocolate Santa in a box.
" 1989 " " " Polar Bear in a box.
" 1990 " " " Snowman in a box.
She still has them in the cabinet for show and you are not allowed to touch them they have never been opened . But stopped as the next year they started to look cheap and in a plain box.

Bought Jnr a lime green plastic mog with battery she was a sniff off 3 y/old . My mother had no Idea what to buy me so gave me a wadge of notes . Jnr grabbed them all and hid them in the plastic mog shouting " not daddies " "mine". I have it all our Christmas'es on video and enjoy playing them back .

Over the 25 years I have been married to my Christmas presents to her have included an ironing board, saucepans and a replacement gear knob for her car. She has also bought me kitchen knives. In my defence, we have at times been as poor as church mice as we struggled earlier in our careers with the mortgage, practice buy-in costs for her, school fees etc. In more recent and better times she has also received a new Range Rover and a holiday home on the Dorset coast. Doesn't stop her telling the story about the bloody ironing board though.

I bought the boss a garden kneeler once. It was on her list.

I’ve bought Wen an SLK for Christmas......and next Christmas.....and next Christmas....and.............🤓. Hopefully she’ll stop hankering after driving the Morgan 🙄

I’m perhaps a miserable bugga but I’ve never wanted presents at Christmas. And this year I’ve got a couple.....living at long last where I’ve always wanted to be, in the house I always wanted and with a wonderful partner. Sounds soppy but what the hell. Oh.....and the local pub is giving free drinks to locals on Christmas morning 😋
