Thanks for the tip. Tried clearing cached files (all time, not just recent). No luck.

Still says "Server unable to read htaccess file, denying access to be safe".

Did you try typing http://www.talkmorgan.com in the address bar?
I found that worked on my wife's Mac. I have half an idea that the problem is occurring when the browser is incorrectly trying to directly link to a file which is in a sub-folder. Note the original link which was given in my first error message: "You don't have permission to access /ubbthreads.php/forum_summary on this server." It could also be a problem relating to how php is trying to interpret the parameter "forum_summary" as set out in the forum script.

There are others who are more up to date than me on this and may be able to suggest the probable cause.

Happened to me again this morning on the tablet with both Firefox and the Samsung browser.
With the Samsung browser I was able see that only one user and 30 guests were on line. I was then able to log on but there was no red numbers for unread posts. I then tried to make a post in this thread and it came up with the error.
The next step was to look at the setup for the browser: I had acceptance of cookies turned off. Turned on cookies and logged in using the private browser setting and all works fine.

Perhaps it has something to do with cookies.

PS. Now 7 registered and 60 guests so I suspect it is a fairly widespread problem.

Back on Firefox now.

I have deleted cookies and cache and I noticed that I had "Anti tracing" activated so I turned that off.

Following that I was able to log on without any problems.
