There is certainly no local white goods shop around here.
Great Missenden had an electricals shop selling bulbs , radios & lamps. But that closed about 10 years ago.

Awful story of Curry's customer service, hope it gets sorted, however, personally never seen the need for a dishwasher.

Here in Llanelli we had Thomas Brothers who sold electricals from white goods to TV/Sound systems etc. Old family firm with awesome service. They would deliver very quickliy, set up items. They also had their own repair workshop so much better than the big chains.
They have been taken over by Vaughans who also have a shop in Haverfordwest (I think), but still have the same level of service. It tends to be our go-to for stuff we will keep. Over the years we have bought TV/Sound systems/HD recorder/Surround sound/Freezer etc. Bought the Bosch washing machine there for the new house and during the admin the sales chap noted a further discount on a daily update that he gave us. total saving of over £150. Delivered same day but kept for installation by the kitchen fitter.

They are still around if you look. We have 3 within 10 miles, and that's without going to Gloucester or Cheltenham. Cotswold Appliances in Stroud, Hurn's in Stonehouse, Gardiner Haskins in Cirencester.

Another option is to contact your local kitchen fitter, they can usually source appliances and install them. If you don't know anyone, just pop into your local pub, buy a round and ask who is any good.

2 in Aylesbury, 2 in Chesham, 1 in Great Missenden according to Yell.com?

These places won't have major high street frontages, they'll be tucked away in odd corners. That's how they survive.

The Great Missenden guy does repairs only.

But thanks for the heads up.

"The first time I was offered an "extended warranty" was on a Fridge/Freezer in Rumbelows in 1987. I declined but instead set up a dedicated account in the Sussex County Building Society and paid the equivalent premium into that. Over the following years I added to the payments as we bought more electrical goods until I'd amassed £2,000, at which point I froze the account.

In 30 years the only claim I could ever have made was in 1999 for a VHS player, which cost me around £100 to replace (covered by the interest on the £2K). I estimate that in the same time by not buying warranties I have saved myself around £6,000 - more than all my electrical items are currently worth"

... is a speech that I have given to many a Currys sales assistant.

We also avoid them for the same reason. The dishwasher was over 6 years old so owed us nothing vs such warranty costs.
