We always use our local high street white goods shop. Back in the summer we needed a new washing machine. Mr Hurn delivered a new Miele machine, unpacked it, removed the old machine, installed the new one, checked that it worked properly, gave us a lesson on how to get the best out of it, and took away the old machine for disposal. His price was about £50 more than Curry's base cost.

Do yourselves a favour guys and support your local businesses.

Having the holiday cottages and our own laundry I think I can claim to have an above average collection of washing machines, driers, dishwashers, cookers, fridges...

In the laundry recently we had a fault on the large Whirlpool Drier which is a semi-commercial machine and has dried tons of laundry over the last 10 years and I thought it was on its last legs as it made the most awful screeching noises. I called it our local appliance repair man who is so good and he diagnosed a faulty bottom drum roller. Total cost to supply and repair £40.

One of the Miele Condensing tumble driers would trip all the electrics out after 5 mi utes and I feared the worst. Called Norman out again and diagnosed that it was fluff that got in behind a s,all panel on the back where the pump is located and seemed to have collected around the electrical connections. Fixed 8n 15 minutes and he still hasn’t sent me a bill and that was 3 weeks ago.

He’s saved us thousands of £££s from replacing machines unnecessarily. The older machines are far better quality than the modern equivalents. He also said that a lot of the new washing machines that have high capacity drums don’t have very good roller sets to them so can’t really cope with the heavy loads without needing to be repaired/replaced. Useful advice.
