Well, I really, really, really wanted to keep these round door mirrors on this Morgan but I just can’t

With regret I’m going to have to swap them to John Taylor’s (Morgan Hoods) Wing mirrors as I did on my last Morgan

These look the part and are original to the car but their vision is hopeless - flat as a pancake and so the field of vision is poor and not what I’ve been used to the last three years

Sadly because I knew these were round and looked nice I didn’t swap my old ones out before I sold it

Oh well, a call to John tomorrow is in order

Sorry to inform you that they are not the MMC round mirrors.

They are the John Taylor small round mirrors, which I have on my Roadster.............................. grin2

These are the same on Bumble:

Actually I stand corrected. The one shown on Bumble is the small John Taylor, but the back is smooth. The ones you have are the same as my Roadster so from the same era. Not MMC, but maybe not an earlier John Taylor, or maybe they are!!! I would have to dig out the invoice.

This is the MMC round mirror, which is quite distinctive:

I have a 98 +8 in need of replacement of mirrors ( a bit ratty). They are the oblong ones. I would like to replace them with with the round ones. Do I understand there two different diameter? I think I would rather have the larger ones. Are they both convex? Do they improve the vision? Can I just purchase the mirror and stem?....the door mount seems to be okay.

Sorry for not understanding all this. Can any one speak to this? I mean the mirror.

I’ve looked back at some hi res images of the Roadster 4 Seater when it was launched in 2006 and the mirrors on mine are exactly like the ones in the photos and not like the current MMC ones in your photo so I’m pretty sure mine are original to the car

As far as I know there is only one type advertised on John Taylor’s website www.morganhoods.com which are convex and round and are superb - I had them on my last Mog

They come with the stem and just simply swap the stem - easy peasy

Librands also do replacement mirrors which look a bit different to Johns and are described as ‘slightly convex’ - I have no knewledge as to how they differ in vision from Johns

https://www.librands.co.uk/products-view-71.html

Heart of England Morgans also do a round mirror with a stem and that is also described as convex so could be good and his stuff is normally very good so could be worth a shout

Holden’s at www.holden.co.uk also do one but doesn’t mention it as being convex so I’m going to stay clear

I’m going to go back to John Taylor’s aka Morgan Hoods aka Phoenix Designs as I know how good they are
