I'm looking for a discreet mounting option for a DAB antenna.

I have an antenna to stick to the windshield, which I do not want to use for optical reasons.

An alternative would be a classic rod antenna (not yet mounted) with a splitter.
But I would prefer a non-visible antenna.

Does anyone have appropriate experience or ideas?

i have instal my electronic amplified antenna with a splitter between the front grille and the radiator and all work like a charm. i am on same boat as you as i don't want to see the antenna a friend of mine have install a classic rod down the footstep (no splitter for him) it work but already the second cable burn due to the muffler. Other than this two place i can't see any other serious solution.

Chester,

thank you for your answer!

I did not expect the antenna to work in this position (because of the metal all around).

Do you have a mesh grill?

What type of antenna are you using?

It would be great if you could post a picture of your mount!

I use an Aktiv DAB/DAB+/FM antenna splitter. DIN to DIN for FM and SMB for DAB. (https://acb.no/Details.asp?ProductID=3245)

Then I use the original Mog-antenna. I have a Pioneer DEH-X7800DAB witch I use an App on my iPone to control.

I would like to avoid using a visible antenna (mainly because of the additional holes in the body and also for optical reasons).
That's why Chester's solution sounds interesting.

If a hidden mounting is not possible, I would also use the classic rod antenna and an active splitter (in my case with Kenwood KDC-X7200DAB, also with app and iPhone as a remote control).

Just remember that you cannot use your iphone to control your radio while driving.

the dab signal is on a wavelength of 1.33m so a half wavelegtn aerial is .66m. Depending how strong the signal is you might well get away with hiding a coil of wire of tyhis length underneath a rubber seal or inside the hood structure. Thats what I do on the boat and it works well

You mean because of legal reasons?

Thank you for the technical background!
To hide an antenna with 0,66m should be possible.

Yes it is an offence to use a hand held mobile phone or other mobile device unless parked with engine of and handbrake applied. For any purpose this includes as a GPS or to access music = £200 + 6 points. An alternative charge is Fail to maintain proper control = £100 +3 points.
