Yes could have been much much worse, especially as MMC have no more engines....  No there are no more engines for car production, it is reasonable to expect that either Morgan or BMW will have a few in stock to cover warranty work and replacements down the line. there's some sort of EU requirement to keep parts in stock for 10 years - I imagine that extends to engines Will An interesting requirement for a company like MMC, I wonder how many they have to hold back for this? Glad to hear the engine remained safe and no lasting damage caused at least, bar the mess of cleaning up all the oil..

Good to hear all OK, but I was always taught if there's a leak don't drive to you know what/where etc. It was a judgement call. The dipstick dropped almost to halfway on the drive up to Bicester. I reckoned that once topped up there was a fair chance I’d get home, before having to get the car checked out. Will

Hi Will, sorry to hear your news, that must have been a shock, it must have happened fairly close to Bicester given the rate of oil loss. How many miles have you covered now.
Hopefully all is fixed now, I guess the mountings have been modified to prevent reoccurrence.

I think it was the drop in pressure that caused the ecu to shut things off Ron. There was still plenty of oil in the engine. I'm just over 4,500 miles :-) Will

MMC are producing another 50 plus 8 with the BMW engines they have in stock.
Somwhy don't they keep a couple back ?
I believe the engines are returned from Bristol motors
