Thanks for the replies, very helpful and should be enough to sort out the insurance. It may be just a French thing because I had the same with my motorbike (different insurer). They wanted it to be "engraved", and to see the receipt for the SRA approved lock that I had to fit to the bike when parked. I imagine SRA is the French equivalent of Thatcham. I already had a very good lock and wasn't going to get another one so in the end I downgraded the insurance from TPF&T to third party only. I live in the middle of nowhere and rarely use the bike anyway. My insurance came out cheap because the M3W is regarded as a bike and I have nearly 50% no claims on motorcycles. This is the bike :

Hi Colin, bienvenu and welcome in this forum. I am german and live a third of the year in Brittany/Bretagne near Morlaix, I wear no helmet and have no license plate in front of my Dreirad (this is the german law). A lot of french threewheeler drivers don't speak english, so perhaps you ask in this french forum: http://clubmtw.forum-box.com/index.php Achim
4 aircooled cylinders, 7 tires, not waterproof: my m3w Bluebelle (2013) and my 2CV Gundel (1990)

They dont like threewheeler on this forum Be lucky What? You are totally wrong. TM is a great place for M3Ws. I should know I have been posting about them on here for five years.

As Richard Wood noted above the factory have confirmed that the immobiliser is indeed the STERLING EXCEL TRANSPONDER IMMOBILISER.
I have sent these details to the insurers in France and hope that is the end of it.
Thank you also to Waldemar for the link to the French M3W forum - very helpful.
They have been able to confirm the answers to my other questions about an M3W in France, which are :
It is homologated here as a motorbike No helmet required (has seat belts and one sits in) Only rear number plate required No MOT test requirement (same as for motorbikes over here, but I'm sure this will change eventually)

On mog.vosforums.com it is good to go to have all the good bistro reviews on the three wheeler, for the useful information it is better to go elsewhere, I do not even think it's two people registered and present on the forum.
