My first Midget cost me £67 full comp in 1966 equivalent of 2 weeks wages.

You’re right about the named drivers boys, but I’ll give you the flip side, when I asked to add him to his sisters policy, (she was 18) it doubled.
They reckoned with two inexperienced drivers sharing, a bash is guaranteed

Everything is with Aviva under one principal policy, however, they both are treated as having their own policy and anything they do doesn’t affect my policies.

I could earn a bit more discount if I could be bothered to use the App, you drive properly for 200 miles ( of your own choosing), and an extra discount is applied on renewal.
It only applies to any car where I’m the main driver though, so not much of a saving really.
The other handy thing with Aviva, if you’re daft enough to have extra cars like me, you can take one off the road and substitute it for another with no admin charge and each car premium is calculated to the day, so no money is wasted.

Strangely, the only one they don’t like is the caterham, the least valuable and only 150hp!

When I was 17, you could still get any driver policies, so my mum insured my car third party only for a pittance. They’ve clamped down on that now as it’s not entirely truthful, it should be the main drivers policy.
Third part is also more expensive than fully comp nowadays which seems odd.

...it's important to get the underwriters to quote the addition of each parent separately. Whilst adding me to my son's policy did bring it down quite a bit, adding Mrs TwoTribes as well would increase it - based on her claims history!

I also learned that my industry-shared insurance file had a 'householding' marker because of my wife's claim - not the same as a fault claim recorded, but results in around a 5% premium hike for me... Grrr.

If memory serves, I insured my Spitfire at age 18 for just £35 fully comp in 1971 - a bargain!

I bought my first Sports Car in 1969 a powder blue Spitfire .
My pride and joy. It cost £125 to buy and £30 to insure fully comp. It was a very early Mk1 much sought after these days. I kept it for about two years and then bought a Mk2 FAY 192C in White. That cost £ 250 and about the same to insure.

I do like the later 1500cc Mk4 Spitfires - by then a well sorted model!

Cloverleaf was the place to go for insurance in my younger days.

In the late 60's I went for a run in a Sunbeam Tiger 4.7l even had a record player in the dash . Phoned about for insurance and did not know the world had that much cash .

Jnr has just saved her future husband 500/-+ he has not been driving that long and his reminder arrived . He was not brought up to look around . I taught my daughter.
