Welcome to our newest member, Ponapay! He's asked me to add his beautiful car as his avatar, so I'm sure I speak for us all when I say we'd love to hear more about his Morgan!

Many thanks for the welcome. Delighted to join.
Current +8 is my (our) third Morgan, 4/4 4 seater when the kids were in their teens, then a new +8 in 1989, a few years without and now -my Plus 8 (1992) used to be Peter Morgan's AB16 (not the one with centre locks, but the earlier one shown in the brochure with dog).
She is kept near Aberdeen and used whenever possible. Before I purchased her from Thomson & Potter she had been resprayed her original colour. She runs sweetly and is certainly more powerful than my previous 1989 Plus 8 which I bought new in 1989.
I have one query which others suggest is a common problem - how does one keep the cockpit cool? Even on cold days it gets too hot. Maybe this should go into the 'technical section'?

how does one keep the cockpit cool? Even on cold days it gets too hot? I find that to be a real annoyance with Plus 8s. It helps if you remove the gearbox cover (the leather covering) and line the inside with heat barrier material (typically, the foil backed stuff you can buy). Then you need to block off all the gaps that allow hot air from the gearbox and transmission tunnel to blow into the cockpit - at floor level, the gearstick gaiter, etc. Having the heater intake accessible to cold air inflow helps too (on some Plus 8s the intake faces part of the bonnet where there are no louvres...!) But generally the engine compartment gets pretty hot, and that soaks through to the passenger compartment. Going quickly cools it all down, but a soon as you slow up, it starts again ... Sometime you just have to suffer for your pleasure ;-)

Many thanks for that suggestion, it sounds very sensible.
I believe also that there should be a 'gaiter' fitted to the top of the heater intake, presumably to try to ensure outside air gets into the heater element rather than engine romm hot air. Mine is missing and theer are only remnants of it left. I will flush the radiator with Wynn's, insulate the gearbox tunnel and try to fit a new gaiter (if I can find one).

Some much better and more detailed advice than I can offer is to be found at http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/plus8.html - particularly under Cooling...
