I would ask them, in writing, if the new compensator has a warranty, details of any routine maintenance and inspection requirements and what is it's expected lifespan.

I would also tell them you're aware of several failures of the new type compensator and ask how they will support you if your new compensator should fail.

Sol.I do not think you should , or be asked,to pay anything for this ongoing longstanding issue.

It's a FOC replacement.

Is it really..... smile

Assuming you have an older, non-Centa design then they will likely offer to pay for the labour to fit the Centa, but charge you for the new parts. This for me meant the neck end of about £1200 I think - not good. Particularly as there's a chance that the rubber barrels in the unit will crack under usage as you'll have to pull the whole thing apart again sometime anyhow.

All part of the fun however!

This may have been answered already but what mileages are people seeing on the new rubber type compensator? Cheers Paul

+1 when I had a problem with the original compensator whilst the car was under warranty I was offered a like for like replacement or an upgrade to Centra if I paid parts (about £1,100) and MMC would pick up the labour.

I went for the Centra.

Thanks Ken, you beat me to it. The continual misspelling of Centa has been driving me nuts of late. Silly I know, but there you go.

You could always change the spelling in the subject line of your reply! smile
Use the "Full Reply" method, rather than the "Quick".
Must admit I didn't really notice the misspelling until pointed out.
