The wonderful Carol Kirkwood has just unveiled her new graphics to enhance the showing, amongst others, of the best chance of seeing the northern (green) lights on the weather report. Wonderful stuff but, why have they decided to use red to show the best chance and green to show the least chance. Is this backwards thinking or what?

Thats not on the evening forecast, I never watch the morning TV weather. Not that keen on the new graphics but I suppose will get used to them. At least the map is square on view. Forecast now from Meteo rather then Met Office over 6 months after planned switch. The online forecast is dumbed down to some extent losing humidity pressure & visibility info though the timeline map is easier to read. Oddly the mobile forecast is still by Met Office & tallies with their desktop forecast. Time will tell if Meteo are more accurate.

Ive been using MeteoGroup's "Weather Pro App on my iPhone for a few years and it is generally excellent. I paid for the Premium version and the breadth and depth of content makes the BBC Weather forecast look a bit sad.
I lost confidence in the Met Office 5 or 6 years ago, they seems to have become, like other UK Government organs, more concerned by nannying us rather than providing clear information upon which one can make an informed decision.
