My last day in the office is 29th March. Im taking most of March off so 1st and 2nd are the last real days. Only nine working days so I'm packing in as much train travel as possible. Currently at Leeds railway station with a Cappuccino.
Next week is mainly lunches and one breakfast.

Here's a question. After 46 years I get a gift worth £75.
Can't be a voucher. Any suggestions?

I only clocked up 24.5 years because I couldn't afford to work into the next tax year before retiring - so I had to forfeit the 25 year opportunity to commission a bespoke artwork.

Dave - what about a GPS/fitness tracker? - then you can feel good about all the walks/exercise you will have time for...

A set of cones for balancing wire wheels. Probably something you would not normally buy yourself.

Or stay another 4 years to get £100.

Already have the cones.......

Fitness tracker is worth thinking about.

Had a pen after 25 years, and some wine glasses after 30 years.
Oh and a "certificate".........

No expense spared.

Nice one. I have just signed up for another 6 months. Only 3 days a week, though.

Retired for second time just under 3 yrs ago. On my last shift (late, due to end midnight) I was allowed to go half an hour early with gifts from colleagues. Nothing from the organisation but not expected after just 8 yrs.
First retirement was after 21 years with the company. Got a Pegasus glass statuette (Pegasus was a company emblem/logo), long service cert, gifts from colleagues. Got a good leaving settlement of early pension/redundancy package. A very good part of the package was a pre-retirement course to help me prepare for retirement. The course was very good and cost circa £3k and when I had covered the handover I had plenty of time to go to the centre they used for reading/workshops etc.I still get a magazine from the company as a pensioner.

Enjoy the retirement Dave, I retired 5 years ago after 30 years in the same company, reasonable pension but no gift from them on retirement.

I'm sure there will be some Morgan related item that you could purchase with the £75.00 gift from your employers.

The saying "I don't know how I found time to work" is certainly true, it's surprising how you fill the time and it really flies past.

ENJOY

All the best,
Ian
