Get rid of all tape measures from the house.
I’ve just realised, everytime I hear the distinctive death rattle of a tape measure, my wife then announces a plan which requires me to do stuff against my will and a barely used possession, to go to the skips and be replaced by something else very similar.

Just hand her a pair of weighing scales whenever she starts, guaranteed a bit of peace and quiet then  .. It's called aversion therapy. To be serious I leave it all to herself as I'm just not bothered about "things" other than cars - I have to go for a viewing of said "things" just at purchase time incase it doesn't all work out as planned so then I would get to share the blame. I suspect the ladies version of this is a little different  . It all makes me smile anyway after 45 years of marriage and it works.

I find that if I mention that the Visa bill is not very much this month, that works wonders for any internal DIY. The Mem. will happily go off to the city and indulge herself which leaves me to play with my cars or better still my boat. 
Here for a good time not a long time!!

I find that if I mention that the Visa bill is not very much this month, that works wonders for any internal DIY. If that happens to me, I usually find many more Amazon parcels being delivered afterwards.

It gets worse, she’s painted the ceiling in what was the toy room and bought new curtains today, she wants the new rail up right now! I hate putting up Curtains, but not as much as I hate paying someone else to do it!

It gets worse, she’s painted the ceiling in what was the toy room and bought new curtains today, she wants the new rail up right now! I hate putting up Curtains, but not as much as I hate paying someone else to do it! Said like a true Scotsman Ewn I learnt early on to always do a bad job whenever asked to do something around the home (which wasn't too hard to be honest) and now she doesn't ask me anymore  She just says she will get a man in!! Fine with me, more time for driving

One of my Tape Measures is in inches only, i just suggested all things are made in Metric now so its no good using it ....she believed me too.
