Sounds like the bloke at work who went home parked on his sloping drive to watch it gently slide off the icy drive into the road while he was making a brew in his kitchen. Four carefully placed bricks stopped it happening again! My Polo did just that yesterday. No damage & grits plus bricks to the rescue.

I am interested on feedback from any electric car owners on how the regenerative brake systems act in the snow. When you lift the accelerator pedal to coast or use engine braking most of them start to harvest energy, does this cause any odd effects on the slippery surface of snow ? My i3 is not bad in the snow with the narrow tyres it cuts along through it quite well, the re-gen going down hill can be handy as it acts a bit like 'hill descent' I'm not keen on ABS in snow as I prefer to modulate braking and traction with good old fashioned 'feel' rather than electronics

Cooperman you are correct, A good driver modulating the brakes would stop quicker on fresh snow than ABS could.

A good driver modulating the brakes would stop quicker on fresh snow than ABS could. Not many 'good' drivers out there, though. Most of us are only just around average, it's a bell curve distribution, and skills like modulated braking on fresh snow are not that easy to practice in the UK. Personally, I feel a great deal happier knowing that most people out there have ABS fitted in their cars.

Yes I agree but the only problem with ABS is the following non ABS cars can get caught unawares when they cannot respond like for like.
