I am pressing on with the Mulfab brake upgrade on my '92 plus4 and I have come to the point of installing the brake reaction bars. At this point I want to replace the engine oil lubrication with grease nipples. On looking at it the lubrication system seems quite complicated in the engine bay. Is it normal just to blank the pipes off under the wheel arches.

John, if you feel confident enough the best option would be to trace the thin pipework right back to the take-off point in the block, remove it, get the thread matched up and then buy a blanking plug, then you never have to worry about potential redundant pipe leaks in the future

However you need to consider the oil pressure gauge feed that comes off the small splitter manifold in the circuit. So you will need to put in a new feed for the oil pressure gauge

Best to blank off the 2 outputs from the oiler button.
When my kingpins were updated we blanked off the oiler pipes under the wing, tying them back out of the way. However, the oiler valve eventually leaked and one of the oiler pipes deposited oil over the offside front suspension (fortunately missing the brakes).
As Owen says, if you blank off the feed point from the engine you need to re-arrange the oil pressure gauge feed.

This is what I did on all 3 of My Morgans. Makes things easy.

Thanks for the information. I am considering leaving the oiling as is after the input as, although no too difficult, the mod is not as easy as I thought.

Have a look in gomog. I think there is a “how to” in the workshop section.

Good point. I often look at GoMog but for some reason it went over my head this time. I hadn't realised that the oiling system presented such a potential risk to the brakes etc and engine. Evidently it was the brain child of Peter Morgan and they discontinued it when he passed on.

I had the engine oiler system removed by Williams and had fitted remote greasing arrangements in the form of two sets of greasing nipples fitted to the inside of the mudguards in the engine compartment for each of the upper and lower greasing points. I routinely grease the every 1000 miles or so. The fitting of these nipples removes the need to "get out and get under"- its such a breeze now. I could never figure out why you would use engine oil to "gease" as the oil would tend to wash the grease out.
I have had no problems.

But the "getting under" also gives an opportunity for a quick spanner check and to wipe off any excess grease before it reaches other components smile. Components such as brakes scared
