Reading the title I was envisaging the Jag F Type SVR V8 in an Aero chassis. That would surely be something to investigate...

Now that's a nice idea putting a Cat under the bonnets.

The V8 Jaguar engine is an awesome piece of kit and one of the best engines Jaguar have made.

Even if it was a Ford design made at the Ford plant in Bridgend! It is used in other cars, including the Lincoln LS the 2002-2005 Ford Thunderbird as well as in several Land Rovers and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Bottom line: a cracking engine, especially the supercharged version in my friends S Type R.

The engine was designed by Jaguar not Ford, and a simplified version is used in the Lincoln etc.

The supercharged version is indeed a fabulous engine. I've been fortunate to own an S Type R which of course uses the 4.2 version. That has got to be one of the most underrated cars ever.

The 5.0 litre supercharged engine would have been magnificent in the new Aero.

I have the 4.4l version in an '07 LR Defender 110 mated to a 6spd ZF manual retaining the LT230 transfer box - built for less than half the cost Land Rover want for their recently-announced V8 collector toy.

It came in very handy for bashing a path through snowdrifts when our hamlet was cut off last week.
